I found a pretty good solution to my minaret problem. Once again, breaking out the hacksaw. I chopped the larger smokestack into its 4 individual stacks and viola, minarets.
Things are drawing to a close on the conversion side of things. I have A LOT of cleanup to do and little gaps to fill. I also need to raise the height of the gap for the head because it's a little small. Other than that, just gluing on the little cloth bits and general repair work and I should be ready to touch up the primer and get to painting!
